More Info: JP was previously owned by Christian Landolt an FEI Dressage and Eventing rider and judge. He brought JP to event however he was not bold enough cross country.
I got the ride on him in 2009, we had instant success; in 2010 we were well placed at National and International competitions coming 2nd at Hartpury International and winning the National Championships.
We were selected as reserve for the World Equestrian Games in 2010 but didn’t travel; however looking back, I don’t think we would have been quite ready.
2011 was a great year. We were unbeaten Internationally, winning the French and Hartpury Internationals and both the British and National Championships.
We were then selected to compete at the European Championships in Belgium where we went as the rookies of the team. He was incredible and we won all three days of competition, came home with two Gold Medals and the European title!
We were so fortunate to be selected for the London 2012 Paralympic Games where we came home with 2 Paralympic Records, 3 Personal Bests and most importantly… 2 Gold Medals!!!! JP was a real superstar and loved the 11,000 strong crowd. He had a lucky banana before he was ridden every day, with the skin on; it obviously worked!
He is a very genuine horse who loves to please. He can be sensitive, however very forward thinking which helps me. He is such a joy to ride; he is soft in the contact, naturally active and willing. He is a horse that takes time to trust people but once you have earned it he becomes your best friend.
He hates his ears being touched and is very impatient when being groomed. You always know when he is hungry as he makes a funny chewing face and loves bananas, whole!
