I am one of the Olympic and Paralympic ambassadors EDF Energy along with Ellie Simmons, Victoria Pendleton and a few others. We help to inspire schoolchildren, firms and individuals across Britain as well as changing our own lives to include compost bins, sharing lifts with team-mates and doing our washing less.
I have enjoyed doing motivational speeches both within EDF Energy and on behalf of them and have had some amazing feedback. I attended the National Nuclear Annual Dinner with over 1150 guests where people had the opportunity to have pictures taken with me and the Vancouver and Beijing Olympic Torch’s.
I was also the special guest the launch of the new sponsorship of the EDF Energy London Eye at the London Debating Chambers, I was invited to motivate the employees and get them excited about this years Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Sainsbury’s were the official sponsor of the London 2012 Paralympic Games and therefore support many Paralympic athletes throughout the country. They are committed to promoting a healthier, active lifestyle for all, regarless of ability, and supporting the values of courage, determination, inspiration and equality upon which the Paralympic Movement was founded.
They used their sponsorship of the London 2012 Paralympic Games to engage the colleagues who work for them and the communities they serve to make a lasting difference to attitudes towards disability in the UK and create poppotunities for change in disabled peoples lives.
I love what Sainsbury’s stand for and their principles; whenever I walk into a store I cannot fault any of the employees, they are all so helpful and happy, its like a big family. I love working with Region 26 (West London), we have great fun, they are always so welcoming and supportive of my sport.
JP and Bam Bam are also massive fan’s of Sainsbury’s apple’s and carrots that they kindly put aside for him, he won’t eat anybody else’s!

I asked Sean for a demo of the Cyclo-ssage rug at Hartpury International in 2012 as I really thought it would help JPs back. Because I always do sitting trot without stirrups it puts a lot of strain on JPs back and as a result we spend a fortune on physio for him. The rug made such a huge difference after one go at the competition I had to take it home.
I now use it every day on all of my horses, including my retired ones! I use it both before and after I ride as a warm-up and cool-down. I cannot believe the difference it has made to all of my horses – and they LOVE it!!
The personal system is used by every member of my family for all different reasons. Before using it I used to have terrible circulation in my legs, I got tired very quickly and I had terrible bad backs. By using the system for 15-30 mins at least once a day I feel energised, I can walk for a little longer and my legs are no longer blue! Also on nights that I can’t sleep, I lie on the bed and it totally relaxes my body ready for a good nights sleep.
World Class Performance
The World Class Performance Programme is based on a “no compromise approach” and has the sole aim of winning medals on the World stage. It exists to provide Britain’s elite riders with the best preparation to represent Equestrian Team GBR at World, European, Olympic and Paralympic level in the four Olympic / Paralympic disciplines of Eventing, Dressage, Show Jumping and Para-Equestrian Dressage.
I have been on the World Class Performance Programme since the October 2011. Before this I was part of the World Class Development Programme since it stared and was even part of the pilot year in 2001.
World Class have made such a difference to me as an athlete and have nurtured me into a World Class rider. They have given me opportunities that I never would have had the chance to experience such as training in Germany with a top International Para Coach.
World Class with the help from Lottery funding have helped towards my training, psychology, nutrition, strength and conditioning, sports science, PR, physio, vet’s etc to give me the best chance of becoming a Paralympian.

Hillingdon London Council
Hillingdon supports talented young athletes and awards them with Gold Bursaries to provide support to represent Great Britain in the 2014 Commonwealth Games, 2016 Olympics and Paralympics, sports specific World Championships or similar international events.
The London Borough of Hillingdon awarded me the Gold Bursary 2009 and 2013. This has been such a huge help I cannot thank them enough. The funding originally enabled me to move one step closer to my Paralympic dream and now towards Rio in 2016.
It has also raised my profile and hopefully encouraged people to get into equestrian sports, whether they be disabled, or able-bodied.
I also have been involved with local sports centres in the Borough including the opening of the Uxbridge Sport and Leisure Complex with Mayor Boris Johnson.

VISA
My role as part of Team Visa ran from 2007-2009 and was an amazing opportunity. Visa recognised and supported young athletes in their preparations for potential involvement in Olympic and Paralympic Games. I was one of 16 UK athletes to be involved in the programme that were chosen by Dame Tanni Grey Thompson and Sir Steve Redgrave, who also acted as mentors.
Visa helped me in all aspects of my life, both individually and as an athlete. They gave me experiences that I will never forget and friends that will stay with me forever. Visa helped me raise the profile of Para Equestrian sport by giving me opportunities such as:
Participating in ‘Ready, Steady, Cook’ alongside Tanni, which I managed to win! (Goodness knows how!!!!!)
I appeared as part of a fashion shoot for the Sunday Times Style Magazine, bringing British athletes together with British Designers. I was wearing an iconic Giles Deacon dress that represented my sport as it was very regal, elegant and eye-catching, very much the same as horses.
I attended the Beijing send off party for all the Athletes attending the Olympics and Paralympics and also the hand over ceremony from Beijing to London 2012 outside Buckingham Palace. I met so many outstanding athletes such as Michael Phelps, Rebecca Adlington, Chris Hoy etc.
I lead school assemblies, informing children about life as an Athlete, how to look after their money, how to get into sport and lots of motivational talks.
I attended corporate events for Visa such as their Royal Bank of Scotland Weekend where I did a signing and spoke to many bankers and Directors about Visa, myself and the opportunity. Also Visa was involved in the Liberal Democrat’s Political Party Conference, Visa’s Question of Sport Dinner, where banks and Visa competed with Sue Barker as the host.
Team Visa developed into Team 2012 in 2010 and now all athletes under World Class squads benefit from Visa who support each Governing body directly rather than a select 16.
